Kazakhstan has decided against seeking BRICS membership, with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev opting to prioritize the United Nations as a universal forum for addressing global challenges. Press Secretary Berik Uali stated that while proposals for joining BRICS were considered, Tokayev ultimately chose to refrain from pursuing membership due to the complex application process and other factors related to the organization’s future prospects.
Kazakhstan remains interested in BRICS’ evolution and supports the founding members’ call for a fair world order without superpower dominance. However, for now, Tokayev prefers the UN, viewing it as the most suitable platform for international discussions and efforts to create a democratic global system.
