Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov announced that leaders from 24 countries have confirmed their participation in the upcoming BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia. Additionally, eight other nations will be represented by senior officials, bringing the total number of participating countries to 32. Ushakov expressed optimism that the list of attendees might grow as the summit approaches, saying, “There is still time, and we hope that the range of participants will widen.”
All nine BRICS member countries have confirmed their attendance, with leaders from each nation expected to participate, except for Saudi Arabia, which will be represented by its foreign minister. Ushakov acknowledged the pressure exerted by Western nations on some countries planning to attend the summit, adding that such efforts are likely to continue. Despite these challenges, he emphasized the significant representation from African nations and others, which he described as “weighty.” Ushakov noted, “Not all countries may be interested in the success of the Kazan summit, which is quite evident.”
Putin to Address BRICS Business Forum in Moscow
Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to deliver a speech at the BRICS Business Forum in Moscow from October 17-18, Ushakov confirmed. The forum, set to take place at the World Trade Center, will focus on enhancing cooperation for sustainable economic growth and fostering global trade partnerships. Ushakov mentioned that the event will also feature video addresses from heads of state from various countries.
